#683: Nir Eyal - How To Break Limiting Beliefs
Nir Eyal is a Stanford lecturer, behavioral designer, and bestselling author who has spent his career at the intersection of psychology, technology, and human behavior. He's one of the most rigorous thinkers alive on why people do what they do, and what it actually takes to change. We discussed How to Break Limiting Beliefs, Create Your Own Luck, Transform Your Relationships, Start Seeing Opportunities Everyone Else Is Missing, and much more. You can also WATCH our conversation on YouTube.
Ramit's Book Buying Rule
Ramit Sethi's Book-Buying Rule: If you're even considering buying a book, JUST BUY IT. I'm so grateful that my parents taught me that the price of a book should never stop me from buying it. Just 1 good idea makes it worth it, and I've discovered so many great books and authors by accident this way.
The Artemis II Mission Was So Cool
One of the things I love most about the Apollo program is the sheer number of people it took to make it happen. To land on the moon, it took 400,000 workers! Engineers, mathematicians, and contractors to support the 12 astronauts who actually walked on the lunar surface. And now, we're going back... The four astronauts from the Artemis II mission flew 252,756 miles away (more than 4,000 beyond the previous record set by the Apollo 13 crew in April 1970), and this was said by a NASA leader after they returned home safely, “This is not a once in a lifetime, which you hear sometimes around here. No, it’s not. This is just the beginning. We are going to get back into doing this with frequency, sending missions to the moon until we land on it in 2028 and start building our base. There is a lot to celebrate right now on the mission well accomplished for Artemis II, and at the same time, we’ve got to start getting ready for Artemis III.”
6 Selfish Reasons to Have Kids
Kevin Kelly is one of my favorite writers/thinkers. I don't agree with 100% of what he thinks, but that's often the case with my favorite people. It would be boring if we were completely aligned on everything. Here's a recent essay he wrote on the selfish reasons to have kids.
"I knew Ryan Hawk was serious when he interviewed me. His preparation was exceptional, his curiosity genuine. In combat sports, you see who did the work and who didn't. There's nowhere to hide. Ryan brings that same ruthless clarity to excellence in any arena. The Price of Becoming shows exactly what the best do differently. Not the motivational speech version, but the actual daily practices they won't compromise on. If you're serious about your craft, read this book.” - Ariel Helwani, Multiple-time MMA Journalist of the Year
