#648: Ed Latimore: Get Started Now...

Ed Latimore is a professional heavyweight boxer, best-selling author, and veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. He earned a degree in Physics from Duquesne University. We recorded this at our 2025 Learning Leader Growth Summit in Scottsdale, Arizona. He's the author of Hard Lessons From The Hurt Business. We discussed Going From Zero to One, Taking Ownership, Positive Body Language, and Strategic Hardship. You can also WATCH our conversation on YouTube.

You Are The Traffic

When people say, ‘Oh, the traffic is so bad.’ I’m like, ‘You are the traffic.’ *You can’t sit there and say, ‘Oh man, the traffic was horrible. I’m sorry I was late.’ You are traffic. You’re in it. Without you, there would be no traffic. So, if you’re sitting here being like, ‘the world is shit,’ it’s like, you are the world.’ You have to take that responsibility. So I focused on making sure that everything I’m making is things I wish were in the world.” - Donald Glover. CLICK HERE to read more.

Walk and Talk

A walk-and-talk is a moveable salon. A small group of invited people walks together for a week, having casual conversations side-by-side during most of the day. In the evening, the group sits down to an intense discussion centered on topics chosen daily by those present. A moderator keeps the conversation on that day’s single topic to sharpen it and make it memorable. Craig Mod and Kevin Kelly have done these organized walk-and-talks for years. I'd love to do one with a group of 10-15 people.

The Day You Became a Better Writer

Business writing is about clarity and persuasion. The main technique is keeping things simple. Simple writing is persuasive. A good argument in five sentences will sway more people than a brilliant argument in a hundred sentences. Don’t fight it. CLICK HERE to learn more.

Wise Words About Optimism

“In this world, the optimists have it, not because they are always right, but because they are positive. Even when wrong, they are positive, and that is the way of achievement, correction, improvement, and success. Educated, eyes-open optimism pays; pessimism can only offer the empty consolation of being right." -- David Landes

Thank you for reading. Mindful Monday is a reader-supported publication. The best way to support it is to order our book, The Score That Matters. If you've already read it, I'd love for you to CLICK THIS LINK and write a review.
