Priya Parker is a master facilitator, conflict resolution expert, and author of the bestselling book The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters. Priya has spent decades facilitating difficult conversations in boardrooms, communities, and conflict zones. In this conversation, she reveals the mechanics of meaningful gathering and why most of us are doing it wrong. You can also WATCH on YouTube.

How to Become a Master Storyteller

Here is a useful video about how to become a better storyteller... Topics Covered: The Dance (Inspired by SouthPark), Rhythm (Inspired by Gary Provost), Tone (Inspired by Steve Jobs, Casey Neistat, Emma Chamberlain), Direction (Inspired by Christopher Nolan), Storylenses (Inspired by Taylor Swift), The Hook (Inspired by Epic Gardening).

Joy & Competiveness

When defining your culture, there's a temptation to cater to everyone. It feels good in the moment to say things that people want to hear. It feels like the right thing to do to address engagement survey feedback and tell the team you are going to make it better. But those commitments won’t be honored in the long term. The sheer difficulty of building a company will ensure that the only values that will survive are the ones that you’d rather shut the company down than change. The true culture will reveal itself to the team. CLICK HERE to learn more about building an excellent culture.

Your Goal Isn't To Get The Job

Career advice is full of trite cliches that people nevertheless need to hear many times because they still haven’t internalized the ideas. How can you have an impactful and fulfilling career? “Get good, be known.” CLICK HERE to read more.

Wise Words

"Excellence is mundane. Superlative performance is really a confluence of dozens of small skills or activities, each one learned or stumbled upon, which have been carefully drilled into habit and then are fitted together in a synthesized whole." -- Daniel Chambliss

Mindful Monday is a reader-supported publication. If you found it useful, forward it to your friends. Thank you! -- Ryan

Morgan Housel published an essay for the first time in months (some things he's sure about). It's great. Brent Beshore is probably the best "Year In Review" writer on the planet. That just came out. I just...

ABOUT PODCAST BOOKS SPEAKING LEADERSHIP CIRCLES Welcome to Mindful Monday! This week... I'm out west skiing with my family to kick off 2026! Also, I've been thinking about my trip to NYC and how that crazy mentalist Oz seemed to read my mind. Still trying to figure out how he did it. You should watch the end of our conversation on YouTube to see what I'm talking about. Also, check out my 2025 Year-In-Review. Read Julian Shapiro's incredible essay on how to become an elite storyteller. Peter...

2025 Review and a Look Ahead to 2026 (Click HERE to read it online) Leading up to 2025, my teammate, Geron Stokes, convinced our Learning Leader Circle members to choose a word of the year. I’d heard of the idea but thought it was just a thing online influencers did to sell a course. So, I didn’t do it. But Geron pushed a bit and described how helpful the exercise had been for him, so I changed my mind. Why not? What could it hurt to try? I made 2025 the Year of Connection. It ended up having...
