#609: Eric Jorgenson - Flawless Fundamentals

His books have sold over 1 million copies and have been translated into 40 languages. Progress is a Magnitude of Consistency

Kobe Bryant didn’t score a single point in his first basketball season. “I was terrible,” he said. “Awful.” When asked how he then went on to become one of the greatest basketball players of all time, he said consistency. “I wasn’t the most athletic. So I had to look long-term…I had to say, ‘Ok, this year I’m going to get better at this. Next year, that. And patiently, I got better and better. It was piece by piece. It was the consistency of the work. The consistency of the work,” he stresses. “Monday, get better. Tuesday, get better. Wednesday, get better. You do that over a period of time—three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten years—you get to where you want to go.” CLICK HERE to read more about Jim Collins' idea of the 20-mile march.

The Problem with Making Health and Happiness Your Central Aims

For the longest time, since the days of Aristotle, happiness has been an aim for us humans. But we’ve taken happiness to a place that Aristotle could not imagine. We’ve monetized it and turned it into a marketing hook. What ends up happening, however, is that the supposed solution to our ills exacerbates the problem. We compare our lives to a staged and airbrushed ideal, which is usually fake, or at least highly contrived. Happiness is best when it comes as a byproduct of living the kind of life you want to live. How To Hire - The Difference Between Success & Failure

"The Interview and How To Get the Most From It" are internal Khosla Ventures documents that they don’t generally share outside their portfolio companies because with that information it is easy for candidates to game the interview. But... HERE it is.

Wise Words...

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee
