Welcome to Mindful Monday!

This week, we focus on the most important leadership skill, the opening of applications for our Learning Leader Circle, writing like you talk, being an active participant, and wise words about the price of excellence.

#654: Jake Tapper: Be So Good They Can't Ignore You

Jake Tapper is an award-winning broadcaster and chief Washington correspondent, currently anchoring The Lead with Jake Tapper every day on CNN. He’s also the #1 NY Times best-selling author of 7 books, including The Outpost, Original Sin, and, most recently, Race Against Terror. We discuss The Most Important Leadership Skill, Handling Criticism, Chasing Your Curiosity, Understanding Tradeoffs, Responding to Rejection, and Being So Good They Can't Ignore You. You can also WATCH our conversation on YouTube.

The Learning Leader Circle - NOW Accepting Applications

We open applications for our Learning Leader Circle once per year. That time is now. If you want to surround yourself with growth-focused, ambitious leaders who want to put a positive dent in the world, then apply now. If you're curious to hear from a current member, here is what leader, Alyssa LeBarre, said about her time in our Learning Leader Circle: “I love the intentionality of the content and the conversations. I loved that we went deep right out of the gate. It felt scary but also safe. I have never been part of a training that felt as real as this. I was forced to look in the mirror and be honest with myself and really make changes to the way I am living day to day. I can honestly say this was one of the most impactful trainings I have ever attended. It felt so normalizing but also empowering to sit in a room full of people who operate at a high level and are consistently seeking ways to better themselves.” CLICK HERE to apply.

Write Like You Talk

Here's a simple trick for getting more people to read what you write: write in spoken language. Something comes over most people when they start writing. They write in a different language than they'd use if they were talking to a friend. Don't do that. Do this instead...

Be an Active Participant

One of the commonalities I’ve found in people who sustain excellence over an extended period of time is that they are active participants in life. They get out there and do stuff. They don’t sit around and wait for things to happen. Leonardo DaVinci said, “It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.” CLICK HERE to read more.

Wise Words

“If you don’t get what you want, it’s a sign either that you did not seriously want it, or that you tried to bargain over the price.” - Rudyard Kipling
