Welcome to Mindful Monday!
This week, we focus on the big 6 leadership attributes, introducing "The Arena," going BIG, the logic of Alice in Wonderland, and some wise words from Brad Stulberg about being the best. And... CLICK HERE to read our USA Today Best-Selling book, The Score That Matters.
#641: Larry Connor - The First Man on Mars?
Larry Connor is an entrepreneur, non-profit activist investor, and adventurist. In business, he is best known for growing The Connor Group from $0 to $5 billion in assets. Outside of work, Larry lives an adventurous life. Within 12 months, Larry did something that had never been done before. He completed 3 dives to the deepest part of the ocean (the Mariana Trench) AND traveled to the International Space Station as an astronaut. We cover: The Big 6 Leadership Attributes, Building a Values-Based Culture, Becoming a Billionaire, Working on Saturdays, Flying Into Space, Diving To The Mariana Trench, & Existing To Be The Best. You can also WATCH our conversation on YouTube. (You should watch this one. We filmed it in Larry's office. One of the coolest offices I've ever seen)
Introducing "The Arena"
The Arena gives you direct access to some of the most respected coaching minds in the world. Led by HOFer Sherri Coale, Brook Cupps, Geron Stokes, and Eli Leiker. Leaders who have built winning programs, led at the highest levels, and shaped the next generation of elite performers. The Arena is a Learning Leader Circle for Coaches only. Inside The Arena, we will have monthly exercises designed for deep introspection. Members will internalize everything about their coaching approach. We're talking purpose, values, behaviors, common language, alignment, creating buy-in, building trust, giving & receiving feedback, handling success & failure, personal development, staff development, team building, defining roles, and more. We are opening applications now for our first cohort. If you'd like to be part of it, CLICK HERE to apply. Once the cohort is full, we will be pausing applications.
Go Big
Running a business has a cruel irony: the clients who pay you the least will cause you the most headaches. I learned this the hard way. The small clients who haggle over every dollar are the same ones who don't pay on time, question every invoice, and somehow never have the basic equipment ready when you arrive for their event. They treat every interaction like a negotiation and every bill like a personal attack. CLICK HERE to read more about why it's worth it to GO BIG.
Be Alice, Not Caesar
David Epstein gave the commencement address at Drew University. It's 8 minutes. Worth your time. CLICK HERE to watch it. "Find something that engages you. Don't be Caesar. Be Alice. Curious. Open to change. Humble about what you know. Constantly updating and retelling your story. Not comparing yourself to others."
Wise Words About Being The Best...
"People who are intrinsically motivated have longer careers, less burnout, and greater life satisfaction. Being the best is a flash in time. It comes and goes. Being the best at getting better is something you take with you everywhere. It is a path that lasts forever." -- Brad Stulberg
